(Open ended play)
I imagined if my daughter is already big, she might do yarn wrapping without much obstacles. Since she’s a 2 years 7 months old girl, what we did was craft in reverse. This is more a sensory activity instead of a craft.

I trimmed out a cardboard in letter N shape, wrapped it with starry yarn and added a yellow paper crescent moon on top before presented it on a tray before our daughter.

She immediately recognized the “yellow moon”, “white stars”, “aaaaand letter N” but pretty much puzzled with the texture or maybe just with the fact it was yarn wrapped cardboard. I only slipped the end of the yard rather loosely and she made it to pull out that loose end.

From here on it was so much fun for her to pull the yarn free with one hand and to hold the cardboard with another hand.

Some parts were more difficult than others since I added a little bit twist here and there

She needed to pull and stretch her arms at some points

She needed to flip the wrapped yarn at other points.

She made it til its very last knotted end.

After that it was all about sensory activities. She really loved the funny texture of this yarn. She eventually used the yarn as a skipping rope while saying “jump jump jump” around the house. Not something I imagined before.
