Today theme is about stillness. How to introduce stillness to an ultra high energy? This is our first attempt ever to do body tracing. Surprise surprise: you’ll be surprised with how still they could stay to be traced!

Material:
-rolled paper, we used tracing paper (therefore it is almost transparent)
-tape
-pencil
-black marker
-paints, we used homemade paints
Instruction:
-cut enough rolled paper and tape it to the floor so that it doesn’t move much while tracing
-ask your toddler to lay down on the paper
-trace his/her whole body with pencil
-make it bold with black marker
-paint it, we let our kiddo to paint using her foot and handprints
Y managed to stay still while I was tracing her whole body. She tried to sneak a peek here and there as well. Definitely lots of giggles ensue. She was totally engrossed and smitten by the process.

Once it was done, she was so excited to see her own whole body print on the paper. She jumped and running around the room and eventually sat on her own print before I presented the paint tray for her to explore freely with.
Hands down painting with feet is my kiddo’s new favorite art activity. Simple feet paintings combine both and are sure to bring on lots of giggles!

I let her dip her feet in the paint tray and then give her the opportunity to walk all over the paper. She wanted her right foot or hand to have different color paint from her left one. She also wanted to stay inside her body print. It was rather slippery both on tray and paper. I let her hold onto me the whole time. It is an added balancing exercise on her part. So much laughter occurred while painting with feet for sure.
Following my kiddo’s lead we worked on this artwork until she said “wash” meaning that she was done. We then admired her work. We have a big bowl of water and towel ready by our side for a quick wash. We really love the results!
Lesson learned: we should do body tracing more often!
