(Open ended activity)

At 2 years 8 months, my daughter is not too keen to sweet things. Real fruit is not a problem, but fruit jam has never been her favorite (maybe yet).

I could use real bread and jam, but she wouldn’t like to eat them, so I prepared a tray play instead with cardstock bread, thick paint as red strawberry jam and yellow butter.

I added some black mustard seeds to represent strawberry jam inside the red paint.

She spread the butter and jam like we normally do at first, but after some time she treated the materials like her way of painting. True to say those are paints not real butter and jam. She had so much fun spreading those jam.

Once it was dried, she stuck 2 bread together and pretended to eat them. It’s “sandwich” she said.
