Do you know that preparing a local pumpkin could be so much fun play for a kid? A simple preparation such as scooping the seeds out of the cavity, rinsing some of the pulp off, and spreading them on a towel to dry could entertain so long time that feels like eternity.

All you need:
-halved pumpkin with seeds still intact
-a spoon
-a bowl
-water (optional)
-a clean towel (optional)
It was so much fun. I mean what not to like: transfering, pouring, stirring? It’s all pure hands-on sensory experience.

She scooped the seeds from the pumpkin,

out and transferred to a bowl with a spoon.

She had a bit of pause when she finally cleared all the seeds in the pumpkin.

As no more seeds in the pumpkin, she transferred them back from the bowl.

It was on repeat for several minutes.

When water was added, more fun was involved.

She cleaned the pumpkin again and so excited with all that pouring and stirring. Her mind went to Dora the Explorer stirring her chocolate batter while saying “bate bate chocolate”

These are the last look of her seed play. Those seeds were finally ready to be dried overnight.
She counted a lot following her movements along the way. She ticked of some science by knowing there’s other part of her favorite pumpkin. Lots of learning by playing!
What is she learning:
-practical life
-language skills
-reasoning & concept development
-motor skills
-math
-science

Next time you need to seed a pumpkin, will you ask your kiddo to give a hand?
