Sandcastle Wannabe

Have you tried to make sandcastle before? We were on the beach this week and so many times Y tried to make sandcastle to no avail.
The first and most important thing about sand is that we can't do a thing with it unless it's wet. Here's why: when we add water to grains of sand, the liquid forms "bridges" that connect the granules to one another. This is why damp sand sticks together, so we can shape and carve it.
The sand we have on the beach in front of our resort is unfortunately way too coarse, so it was harder to get them stick together. Packing down or "tamping" wet sand drains more water more quickly, creating even shorter bridges and an even more solid clump. She was really determinant to pack down the sand into her bucket. Even so, the maximum shape that our daughter could make was just these bucket shapes.
Eventually, after seven towers, she enjoyed destroying this sandcastle wannabe by stepping on each tower and move on than diligently making it.
