We were starting this week with a simple activity to entertain our 2 years 7 months old toddler. Y was rather grumbling and asked for more weekend this monday morning.

Materials:
-paper
-glue
-paper cut in a shape of a cloud
-7 strips of rainbow colors
-a tray
Instruction:
-present the materials in front of your toddler
-let her explore freely
She was excited beyond measure when she saw the materials on her tray. She quickly picked up the clouds and said “clouds” out loud before I even managed to ask what it was.

I have made a finished project with (almost) similar pieces earlier when preparing her tray. I needed to make sure if the paper strips weren’t too small for her tiny fingers to glue independently. I put it on my desk without realizing she has took notice of that page. She stood up, brought it over closer to her tray and showed it to me while saying “rainbow”. I asked whether she’d like to glue the rainbow and she answered “yes!”
I asked which strips has certain rainbow color, in order on its sequence: red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue (instead of indigo since we don’t have one here) and purple. After she picked each color, I gave her the glue after each strip-picking to remind her on glueing but let her stick it freely on the paper. I thought she would do rainfall in rainbow color like I did, oh how wrong I was, she made a stairway to the clouds instead!

Honestly saying, I like hers better.
She then showed me how well she knows all the colors by pointing while shouting each of the color excitedly.

Bye bye Monday Blues, hello rainbow!
