(Craft)

This is a super easy activity to introduce rainbow color as our theme today. This is a bit of game with an added motorik exercise and a craft as a result.

Materials:

-glass jar

-handprints in 7 rainbow colors of construction paper

-rubber ban

Instruction:

-ask your toddler certain color of the handprints (we folowed the rainbow color sequence)

-insert a rubber band around the glass jar

-ask your toddler to insert the handprint after each color that was correctly picked

-enjoy the result by showing it off on a place where you and your toddler agreed on

We began by tracing one of her hand on a red construction paper. The paper was kind of thin so I stacked 7 layers of rainbow color paper and cut them in one go to save time.

Y knows the shape of rainbow with its beautiful looks from our read aloud session. We were lucky as well to have seen the real rainbow up in the sky after most rain at where we live. I am not quite sure however of how many colors she recognize by far since I seldomly put it to the test. That is until now.

I asked her to grab and hand over to me certain color in order of: red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue, and purple. Unfortunately we have no construction paper with indigo color. She got all the color right.

She was excited to see those prints. She shouted “Hands! Hands! Hands!” while was also taking some to compare with her own real hand.

Knowing Y so well, I showed her how to slip the right handprints in between rubber band and glass jar instead of asked her to do it. I started it off and after the first one (when she could really see what I was doing) Y took over to the very last one. The power of immitation followed by competition of a toddler. Nothing complicated.

The look on her face when all those handprints are stacked around the glass jar was so precious. She love it, we all love it. It is a new decoration on our dining table at the moment.
