(Open ended play)

When we’re outdoor, Y loves playing with rocks, pebbles and sands by picking, stacking or pouring them. She loves collecting things.

Since she took a bunch pebbles home and we just received Hot Wheels 10 car pack as a gift unfortunately with plastic packaging inside, I suddenly have an idea how to re-use it.

We took 10 pebbles. There were 10 holes as well inside the plastic divider packaging. I didn’t give her any instruction at all. She was free to do whatever she’d like to do. She started to pick the pebbles one by one, placed each of them in a different slot while counting 1 to 10. After all pebbles had been distributed she gathered all in one hole. She then repeated this whole process over and over again.

The idea came from ‘congklak’, my parents bought it during our family holiday to Bali island. It’s one of my childhood game. It used shells instead of pebbles. Anyone perhaps familiar with congklak?
