(Open ended play)

It’s the next morning post the making of pirate hat, telescope and eye patch. The pirate hat was finally ready (dry and stuck to each side properly) for an adventure.

My daughter suddenly asked for “Treasure map, please!

I then drew a treasure map while she was having breakfast based on the city park next to our home: a boat with its telescope (on the playground), a waterfall (by the waterpark), a whale and dolphins (by the pool) and ended up in a high tower (where we’ll have lunch). I designed the map not to challenge her, but simply to add more fun. She knows the city park to its very detail by heart. I know she could feel confident with every place she needs to find.

She was so excited with the map and barely can’t wait to take a look at it. She finally finished with her breakfast and no calming down since.

She pointed each of the things she noticed on the map while tracing the route before heading to the door, putting on her shoes along with pirate costumes and said “Come on, mummy!”

Y spent the whole 3.5 hours in the park: finding all the things on the map, running here and there playing at the playground til all sweaty, swimming in the waterpark to cool off, changing, waving bye-bye to the whale + dolphins by the pool and having lunch at the high tower with daddy.

Here’s how the real places of our treasure map look like

Yo ho ho, that was our pirate adventure! Time to rest now.
