Easy to do, easy to set up, inexpensive, and (could be, depending of age) perfect science for young kids.

Materials:
-water
-food colorings
-spoons
-4 glass jars
Instruction:
-fill the glass jars with varying levels of water (from the least to most). We used measuring cups for its ratio (1/2 c, 1 c, 1 1/2 c, 2 c)
-add different food coloring in each jar, mix it well
-ask your toddler to tap on the jar using the spoon

Without music our lives would be “flat”. Today we have devised a hands on activity for her involving music. She helped prepared the colored water, filled up different glass jars with different levels of water, then we let her explore the types of sounds the jar produce. She discovered that the lower the water level is, the higher the pitch produced.
