(Open ended play)

To join science theme festivity we have been playing so much with water the whole week. Reason being is that me as mother could not always guess what is right for my own daughter except by trial and error. At 2 years and 7 months of age, Y has very low patience. My mantra has always been “wait” and “a moment” at all times. She might freeze with lots of giggles as if it was a waiting game for 10 seconds, but it won’t last longer than that.

We used 6 glass jars for water colours, 3 regular bowls to mix between primary colours, 1 big bowl to mix between secondary colours and coloured paper circles to distract her in between mixing so that I could set up the next set of colour mixing.

This mixing colours with lots of pouring is a big hit because it requires the least waiting time.

You might asked, what are those coloured paper circles for? It is optional, but we used it to entertain her while I prepared the next mixing colour set.

Once we were done mixing those 6 sets of primary colour, we continued with mixing the resulted secondary colours.

She loved this play so much! What not to love, she could do lots of: pouring, mixing, colour naming, guessing the new mixed colours, sprinkling and mixing the paper in the water. That is all of her favourite things!
