This is a late post from our hotel trip last weekend. We were staying in a business hotel for 3 days and 2 nights. We have brought along few things to survive outdoor’s stormy weather forecast.
I found the pink leftover paint earlier in our bag. Our kiddo must have accidentally (or intentionally) stuck them into our bag. To our luck, somehow no spill. We used it to paint our toddler’s footprints in the hotel bathroom so it was no worries for mess. I found 2 more paints in the afternoon.
So, why not we complete the keepsake by making handprints in a hotel? I would never thought to do such a project when we’re not at home, but why not?
Materials:
-paper
-paints
Instruction:
-brush your kiddo’s hand with paint to create the print
-guide your kiddo’s hand to the paper
-allow the paint to dry
Instead of having your kiddo’s hand in a bowl of paint or plaster, apply the material with a finger. Spread paint or plaster evenly over the kiddo’s hand for full coverage.
Gently press down on his/her hand to make sure you leave an actual handprint. Tell your kiddo to hold his or her hand still and then gently lift the hand.
We used edible homemade paints for safety reason (the recipe is available on our IG feed). Our kind of keepsake are not really for a long period of keeping because we love to digitalize instead of having the real items on hand. If you’d like a long lasting keepsake, I’d suggest you to use real paint from art and craft store.
Once the paint dries, I put the pages with hand and footprints under heavy weight books to flatten. This photo was taken at home after the trip.
At 2.5 years old of age, Y loves to make her own handprints and footprints. She’s more than cooperative, so it has been a bless. We might do more hand-footprints related art and craft in the future. Stay tune!
