(Game)

This is the kind of activity that Y and me have loved to do for months now. I could recall our first moment was when we shared a bowl of strawberries and I accidentally sat by the lamp to read. She shouted “boat” towards shadow the bowl made on the wall.

This game is free, challenging and so easy to set up. Simple but fun addicting word game. It could be used to test young ones’ knowledge of many things, without any atmosphere of being tested.

All that were needed: a small item (we used mostly toys like Lego Duplo animals or figurine here), flash light, a box big enough to cover them so that Y couldn’t see what’s the item is.

I’d ask: “Guess whose shadow is this?”

Y would answer, usually straight away and gets it right with her first answer. But sometimes she would just hum “Hmm,” and put her point finger by her side chin as if she was thinking. For the sake of copycatting and teasing.

She likes to pretend as if she’d peek behind the box and that she’d see what behind it. Once she had her guess, we would remove the box to expose what the real answer was. She almost always guess it right, but sometimes the shadow could also look like something else. There’s no right or wrong with imagination, so why not consider it right as well?
