(Open Ended Play)

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away Star Wars came along and changed everything. May 4th has become commonly known as Star Wars Day. To celebrate it, we did a galaxy sensory tray.

Materials:

-dried beans

-yellow paper cut stars

-pipe cleaners

-a black tray

Instruction:

-fold the pipe cleaners in a circle

-spread pipe cleaners (as faraway galaxies), yellow stars and dried beans (as faraway stars) on the tray

-present the materials to your kiddo

-let your kiddo explore it freely

Y had so much fun with the tray. It is the first time we used this particular tray. Its lower base is not really flat, tend to be convex a bit, and can rotate on its center. She turned and turned and turned it around. Over and over again.

Next she began to grab and sprinkle dried beans in one area close to her. She straightened the pipe cleaners, buried the yellow stars before massaged her feet over the dried beans.

She played this sensory tray for about 30 minutes. By the time she left all of the items were scattered on the floor with none left on the tray.

"May the 4th be with you."
