It’s international friendship week so the lovely #the12weeksofsummer is dedicating a week to honour this wonderful concept. Realizing how important this theme is for human being, I simply couldn’t let us not playing along.

In a split second I know how my daughter would love to portray best friendship: Dora the explorer and Boots!

Boots is a character who Dora met one day, and is her best friend. He is friendly and enthusiastic and usually, wears his beloved red boots, hence his name. He is light purple with a yellow stomach and yellow tipped tail. Boots is present with Dora on most of her adventures, and he helps Dora to solve clues and puzzles.

I drew a silhouette of Dora and boots using a pencil on a blue paper. She was super excited when I finished the silhouette. “Who’s dat?” she asked without letting me answer, since she soon after shouted her answer “Dora! Boots!” while pointing each of them.

She comb-painted the silhouette excitedly with yellow and pink paints that I have prepared for. I was counting on the blue paper’s discoloration to let her create rainbow color. I under estimated her capability to do comb painting. I prepared two pages for her to paint. Maybe I am biased but she did well with rainbow comb-coloring, didn’t she?

While the second page looks like this

Once it dried, I used a black marker to sharpen its edges. And then cut the silhouette out.

When her daddy was home, amazingly he didn’t recognized them as Dora and Boots. He thought they were me and Y. I honestly couldn’t hold my laugh.

This project surely has made our day!
