(Science)

A simple exploding paint for a toddler to have fun with.

All you needed:

-water

-food coloring (red, green and yellow)

-baking soda

-vinegar

-container (6 muffin silicone cups)

-squeeze bottle (for vinegar)

-a spoon

-aluminum foil (re-used inner part of washed and dried chip bag)

-a tray to catch the fizz

What to do:

-Mix baking soda with a bit of water and food coloring until a thick paste formed

-Pour vinegar into the squeeze bottle

-present the materials to your toddler on a tray

-let your toddler explore freely

Y loved mixing the colors and smearing the paint on the foil.

Once she was satisfied with it, we squeezed the vinegar over her paints. She loved this step.

Anything that fizzes and bubbles is always a hit.

She used the spoon at the beginning of this activity. After a few first spoonfuls, she prefer dipping her point finger in the paint, took a finger full of paint and smeared it on the foil. Hands on experience is definitely the best.

After a while, she began to pour the paint from muffin cup onto the foil. The baking soda paste was rather thick so it was hard to pour. She then scraped it using her finger while tip the cup over on foil.

Muffin silicone cup was rather wiggly. It was quite a challenge for her to tip over them. In the end she didn’t bother to transfer the paste. She simply added vinegar directly into the muffin cup so that she could have huge fizz and bubbles at one go. She shouted “Yeaaaah!!!” outloud when she made it.
