We have sooo many boxes left over from last week’s purchase. A sea of brown boxes. If any of you have moved recently, you know what a bummer it can be to have these boxes still sitting in the corners of your room. The recycler in me had to make something out of them.

We made something simple yesterday: painting an elephant.

I cut out an elephant shape silhouette out of the cardboard while she mixed her own homemade paint out of flour, water and food coloring. What not to love for a toddler to pour ingredients and mix them? Just like “cooking” as she always said while mixing things these days. She chose pink color for her elephant. As for ways to paint, I offered her a few choices that I knew she liked these days: silicone brush, sponge and comb. She took the silicone brush.

This is not our first time using silicone brush so no instruction was needed for Y. She can freely paint as she wished. Cardboard withstands toddler painting so much better than paper anyway.

The soothing process of painting is often what is interesting to young kiddos.

The pleasant feeling of painting over and over is what is important for our daughter at the moment.
