(Craft)

Materials:

-homemade paints (we used red and yellow)

-upside down glass jar lids as paint containers

-butterfly shaped cardboard

-sponge

Instruction:

-present the materials in front of your toddler

-let your toddler play freely

Y was so excited to see what was on her tray. “Butterfly, butterfly, whiiy,” she said loudly while lifted up the cardboard and went around the room to let it fly. She took a while to just play with the butterfly. Eventually she realized that there were paints. She sat, put the butterfly back down and grabbed the sponge. Time to paint.

It has been a while since we paint with sponge. At first she used the sponge in a rubbing movement, but eventually she realized that sponge was better to be used in stamping movement.

Y loved the idea of dabbing the sponges onto the paper and seeing the texture it left behind.

It supposed to be messy but even its left over looks like a nice abstract, isn’t it?

Y was even more excited with the butterfly once it was finished. She hardly can wait til it was dry to fly the butterfly all around the house.
