(Open ended play)

Water pouring station is always a big hit in our home. It never fail to brighten up everybody’s mood.

Materials:

-laddle

-funnel

-containers

Instruction:

-present the materials in front of your toddler

-let your toddler play freely

I provided a silicone collapsible funnel as a challenge. She has seen me using the funnel but it was her first time pulling and collapsing it by herself. It is proven to be easy even for a toddler to play with.

It was an absolute amazing thing to watch. Y did pretty good with aiming but had no concept of capacity at first. She would say “Oh no!” after realizing some overflow happened on the bottle bellow the funnel. It seems that of the water form the plastic container was totally going to fit in the glass bottle.

I hinted her to pour the water from the bottle back to the bowl and see what happen. She removed the funnel off bottle’s mouth and poured the water halfway, peeked some leftover water inside and poured some more until no water left. Eyes wide awake, “Woow!”

She would like to pour water back into the bottle but it was too much spill without the funnel. I thought I would have to give another hint, but she figured it herself. She put the laddle down in order to pull the funnel back into shape for using. It was accidentally collapsed when she threw it earlier. She then inserted the funnel back into the bottle’s mouth and the pouring game could begin again.

We give the Water Pouring Station four very excited thumbs up (even with toes, yes!). Y played independently for about 30 minutes which felt like an eternity to me.
