We went for a quick hike on a hill about 2 hours driving from home yesterday and look what we found: a stunningly beautiful black beetle.

It was really huge, as big as our iPhone 6!
We didn’t plan for a minibeast treasure hunt so it was rather a lovely surprise when we met this guy. Y was excited to see it but kept her distance, maybe due to its big size and solid yet shiny black color. It was her first time seeing a beetle in nature. We told her to say hi to the beetle.
“Hi, beetle!” she said while waving her hand. She aproached the beetle as if she’d poke it but surely enough she didn’t want get too close.
She kept repeating the words “beetle” over and over again on our drive towards home while putting both hands to the sides of her head and extending her pointer fingers as pretend horns to copy the beetle’s antenna.
