(Craft)

Bee makes a really popular art and craft in our house. We have done a few creation with bee theme in the past one month alone. This is another super simple art project that is suitable for all ages, simple enough for toddlers to make (with a little help).

Materials:

-wooden or plastic blocks

-yellow paint

-black marker or crayon

-papers

-a tray

We used wooden Hape and plastic Fisher Price blocks. You can use any shapes that you have in the house. As long as they’re thick enough to grip, they shouldn’t be any problem.

We only need one page, but as always, I prepared many sheets of papers for our daughter to stamp freely. It might art session, but for young children everything is a free play. Any session should be fun.

There are 5 shapes on the Fisher Price blocks set. I let our daughter to choose which shape to make the beehive. She picked the hardest one (in my point of view) to work on: the orange cross. I helped her to dip one side of the cross block in the paint and we stamped the block several time in a pattern that make a pretend beehive.

I asked her to dip in the paint and stamp the blue wooden tube Hape block on the paper, surrounding the beehive.

She realized that if we let the block stay longer while stamping, the result is more round and clear

which gave me time to take a good picture.

She done pretty neatly and moved on to other extra paper I have prepared for her for free play.

Meanwhile, I let the paint for a while to dry.

Once it was dried, I drew the details on the bees: mouth, eye, wings, sting and body pattern using a black crayon.

Our daughter took a peek in between her business of stamping to realize that our art has turned into buzzing bee. She immediately sit closer and played on the paper as if it was a mat. She said “bee bee bee” while using her finger, seems like imagining if the bee was getting in and out the beehive.
