(Open Ended Play)
Sensory tray has always been a popular thing in the house. The open-ended nature of the materials provides toddler with unlimited possibilities.

Materials:
-sterilized beach sands
-containers
-spoon
Y started enjoying sand play when he was six months old. It was her first encounter at the beach. Back then texture was everything for her. She would lean into the sands and basically lie on her tummy to ‘swim’ in the sand. And though the way in which she engages with the sand has changed in the ensuing two years, she loves using sand toys more than ever now when playing at the beach. At 2 1/2 years of age, Y loves to scoop and pour sands these days.
She always has a lot of fun to play with beach sands. it is addicting and super messy! Beach sand is one of the most inviting textures we laid hands and feet on. Unfortunately, we don’t live close to any to play in.

The way she play it is amazing to be observed. Even though we provide a spoon, it doesn’t mean she will use it. She realized that a spoon is a tool which make transferring process from the little dunes to container easier, but she loves to scrape using her hands. Hands on experience is everything! Sometimes she dig some sands using her hands, transfer it to the spoon and bring it into the container.
Y usually fill up each of the container and also its lids. These days her target is to fill each of the container full and close it with lid and call it a day.
Sometimes she fill and pour the sands into the sand dunes. Sometimes she squeezes herself into the tray, scoops and pours sands onto her own knees. Some other time she takes the Hape red bucket and starts pouring sands into it through the hole on its holder.
